Lena is a writer, radio personality and content creator. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Journalism, and is now based in New York where she is a freelance journalist + contributes to a weekly broadcast as an On-Air Media Personality for Caribbean Power Jam Radio.
In 2016, excited to try her hand at entrepreneurship, she founded Waterworks Road, a gourmet frozen food company inspired by her family’s journey to America from the Eastern Caribbean archipelago. After two successful years as an artisanal dessert maker, she set her sights on facilitating BIPOC - centered workshops focused on the power storytelling.
I believe stories open our hearts, reach our minds and often lead to action.
In 2017, Lena joined an environmental reporting team of journalists in Cuba which aimed to shed light on matters such as sustainability, plastic pollution and biodiversity. Later that year, her passion for the art of storytelling brought her to Senegal - working one-on-one with a dozen youth writers to create original spoken word performances for the 1,800 seat, Grand Theatre of Dakar.
Late 2019, she launched her podcast series Closer. Every episode, Lena takes a closer look at the people and stories that captured her attention for an in-depth conversation and analysis.
And 2021 has seen the expansion of Lena's video production with the launch of her new YouTube Channel where the content is a vlogumentary behind the scenes of her current projects.
